The nonpartisan group We Are Nelson County, KY will hold their monthly public meeting on September 8, 2026, at the Nelson County Public Library, 201 Cathedral Avenue, Bardstown, KY, at 6:45 p.m.

The group’s objective is to educate the public and bring awareness to the impact data centers, or high-density computing facilities, can have on our community.

Guest speaker Nate Oberg, founder and leader of We Are Oldham County, will present, “Your Zoning Ordinance: A Key Tool for Protecting Your Community.” A Q&A will follow his presentation.

Nate’s knowledge is based on his community’s first-hand experience working with the Oldham County Zoning Commission, attending Fiscal Court meetings and public hearings, and staying actively involved in a process that began over 18 months ago. Their journey has been nothing less than incredible.

While their county is still protected under a moratorium, the community and their Zoning Commission are still in the thick of getting a satisfactory ordinance in place.

Nelson County residents are urged to attend this meeting to gain a better understanding of how unified and proactive residents are essential in shaping the future of our community. Attendees are encouraged to bring their questions and take advantage of this opportunity to hear directly from someone who has lived through the process firsthand.
